The third round of the National series DH, XC and 4X was held in Thredbo at the weekend. What a weekend it was for Commencal. The rain came down steadily all weekend turning all the tracks to mud.

A tough rough track. The track being so heavy the XC riders voted to reduce the number of laps and time from all events.

You could not blame them. After the first 200 metre they were all carrying a few extra kilos in weight with mud caked to their frames

The DH guys suffered the same fate with mud stopping gears working and the abrasive dirt at Thredbo played havoc with and destroying brake pads

The condition of the track only allowed one practice run Sunday and the final

U/19 boys where this year’s competition is very close saw Aden Wyber (Berretas Bike Hub/Commencal) and holding the series leader jersey, after a bad seeding hold the hot seat from ½ way through the competition clearly ahead of the field. The supporters were holding their breath for the final run but Aden held on with Phil Piazza (Mal adjusted /Commencal a fantastic second) The two boys were so excited as we all were with a Commencal 1,2. Victory. Congratulations to the two boys and also to all the other Commencal riders who throughout the season have been so supportive of each other.

Ben Cory in Elite men’s returned from a horrific hand injury sustained after his great round in Tasmania at the beginning of the season. Ben was seeded 4th and was in the lead after a stunning run. Again Kovarac was the last rider down and the tension mounted as we all watched the last bend for his appearance and the time clock to compare with Ben.
Ben’s win ensured a great win for himself and Commencal. Ben, a true ambassador of the brand and such a great support for the younger riders, always ready with a hint or suggestion.
