With the Nissan UCI World Cup finals just 8 days away, the current series leader Greg Minnaar (Santa Cruz Syndicate) of South Africa, is keen to get on track and start the race week.

Matti returns home to Finland tomorrow, Monday, after it was decided to have surgery in his home country and not in Australia.

Chris Kovarik got a great podium result at the penultimate World Cup round in his home country today in Stromolo park, Canberra. Chris placed 5th on the in a very strong field. The course was pretty good considering the size of the hill which was a lot smaller than we have been used to riding on the world cup circuit so far.

The Canadian Open Downhill took over theWhistler Mountain Bike Park today, the final day at Kokanee Crankworx 2008. More than 260 riders took part in the race, having only one run to clock their best time possible on a course that is said to be as challenging as any World Cup course.

The Monster Energy Slopestyle @ Kokanee Crankworx dominated the Boneyard Slopestyle course in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park today. Every year this event draws the biggest crowd of the festival, watching the best athletes in the world of mountain biking compete for $30,000 in prize money.

The Jim Beam Air Downhill took over the Whistler Mountain Bike Park today with over 300 competitors racing in the one-run format on the famed A-Line course. Brian Lopes of Laguna Beach, CA was the fastest competitor for the third straight year finishing with a time of 4:22.10 - 1.32 seconds faster than the rest of the field.

23 Degrees Sports Management announced today that it will be returning to Mountain Bike World Cup racing in 2009 with a brand new team, with Trek Bicycles as a title sponsor. Previous years have seen 23 Degrees win the many World Cup titles with their teams Global Racing, and most recently Team G Cross Honda, and the new team will have very similar goals.

Gee Atherton finishes #1 in what is said to be one of the longest, most grueling downhill course in mountain biking. The one-run format descends 3,400 feet from top to bottom, covering some of the most challenging terrain in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

JD Swanguen takes top spot on a damp, technical course after the most competitive Dual Slalom ever seen at Kokanee Crankworx. After favorites like Brian Lopes, Andrew Neethling, Dan Atherton and Cedric Gracia get knocked out in earlier rounds, first place was up for the taking.

Off the back of last weeks win in Mt St Anne Rachel Atherton claimed her third World Cup win of the year this weekend in Bromont Canada. Bromont the fifth of seven stops on the Nissan World Cup series presented the riders with a tricky and varied course.

Canberra pair, Leigh Darrell and Harriet Burbidge-Smith dominated the elite divisions of the Mountain Cross state series final round held at Mt Stromlo today. Darrell passed World Cup rider, Thomas Hubert to win by a bike length. According to Darrell it was close until the finish line
